This picture shows some of Blast Foundation’s volunteers. Those wearing blue polo shirts are facilitators for the Pilot programme.
Referred to by students as ‘blueshirts’ the team completed the five-week pilot Blasthrough Programme to a group of twelve soon-to-be-released men.
Ten men successfully completed the course, and each was presented with a certificate of achievement by the Prison Governor.
It is widely recognised that a key principal in minimising re-offending rates is to continue the resettlement process following release. Blast currently recruits, matches, and then introduces mentors to each student prior to release. Most importantly, this new relationship continues following release with face-to-face and telephone contact for as long as is needed.
